Client dinners and work events: stay sharp for the next morning
When the dinner is with a client and the meeting is at nine, the morning after matters. Here is the plan I recommend, built around two capsules of Good Spirits before and after.
Key takeaways
- Take two capsules of Good Spirits (650 mg DHM, 200 mg clove extract) with your first drink at dinner, and two more with breakfast before the meeting.*
- Decide on your number before you arrive, and count standard drinks: refilled wine glasses make it easy to lose track.
- Keep a glass of water or sparkling water going alongside every drink.
- Drinking to intoxication dulls next-day performance whatever you drink, so a lighter night plus the morning serving is the winning plan.
What is the plan for a client dinner?
Two capsules of Good Spirits with your first drink and two more with breakfast the next morning. Each serving delivers 650 mg DHM, 200 mg clove extract, 100 mg taurine, 100 mg choline and a high-potency B-complex, so you head into the meeting with the full routine done.*
| Ingredient | Per serving | Before + next morning |
|---|---|---|
| DHM (dihydromyricetin) | 650 mg | 1,300 mg |
| Clove extract (Syzygium aromaticum) | 200 mg | 400 mg |
| Taurine | 100 mg | 200 mg |
| Choline (L-bitartrate) | 100 mg | 200 mg |
| B-complex (B1, B2, B3, B5, B6, B12) | High potency | Two servings |
How do you pace a dinner where glasses keep getting refilled?
- Decide on your number before you arrive. It is easier to stick to a plan you made in advance.
- Count standard drinks, not glasses. A standard US serving of wine is 5 oz at 12%, and a topped-up glass is often more.[1]
- Keep water or sparkling water going. Alcohol makes your body lose more fluid than usual.[2]
- Eat the meal. Food slows how quickly alcohol is absorbed.[3]
Which drinks are easier the next day?
Clearer ones. In a controlled study, bourbon caused worse hangovers than vodka at the same breath alcohol level, because darker drinks carry more congeners.[4] The same study found that next-day performance was impaired about equally after either drink, so how much you drink matters most.
What about conferences and multi-day events?
Treat each evening as its own routine: two capsules with the first drink and two the next morning, so a three-night conference uses 12 capsules. Sleep is the other half of the plan. Alcohol helps you fall asleep but disrupts the second half of the night,[5] so call it a night before the last round.
What does the evening look like?
| When | What |
|---|---|
| Before dinner | A snack if the meal is late; decide your number |
| First drink | 2 capsules of Good Spirits: 650 mg DHM, 200 mg clove extract, taurine, choline, B-complex |
| During dinner | Standard drinks counted, water or sparkling water alongside |
| End of the night | Skip the last round; a ride back to the hotel |
| Morning, before the meeting | 2 more capsules, water and breakfast |
DHM does not sober you up, it does not make it safe to drive, and it is not a reason to drink more. Close the deal, then get some sleep.
Common questions
When should I take Good Spirits before a business dinner?
With your first drink, and two more capsules with breakfast the next morning.*
How many capsules do I need for a three-day conference?
Twelve if you drink on all three nights: four per night. A 40-capsule bottle covers ten nights.
Can I drive after a client dinner if I take Good Spirits?
No. Good Spirits does not sober you up and does not make it safe to drive. Book a ride.
